Paper Tiger is painted on a fragment of antique wallpaper discovered in an attic in France, where it had been tightly rolled for more than a century. Before painting, the paper had to be slowly coaxed open and pinned flat — a gentle undoing of time that becomes part of the work’s story.

Its faded florals and worn texture create an intimate backdrop for the figure who now inhabits it.

Preserved in a deep white gallery frame, this piece carries both vulnerability and strength. Final dimensions: 25 × 21 inches.
