Love Sick

Love Sick
I painted in acrylic on a collage of antique pharmaceutical prescriptions dating from 1904 to 1910. The surface is layered with handwritten notes from various physicians and retains the small perforations left from being stacked on a metal spindle.
This work explores the overlap between physical illness and emotional longing. The figure holds a fevered, romantic expression — caught between lucidity and desire —echoing the urgency embedded in the prescriptions beneath her. The paper carries its own history of care, concern, and intervention, allowing the work to consider tenderness as something both treated and endured.
