This original acrylic painting is rendered on a fragment of antique French wallpaper, circa 1920. Discovered in an attic in France, the roll had been wound so tightly for over a century that I had to gently coax it open, tacking it to plasterboard before I could begin to paint.

The paper itself holds a kind of quiet history — its faded florals and timeworn texture setting the perfect stage for the figure who now inhabits it. Look closely, and you’ll see her bare nipple, revealed just beneath the curling edges — a soft, unguarded moment suspended in time.
