This original gouache painting was made on an antique lithograph of the moon from The London Geographical Institute, 1925. The moon phase is on the 11th day of the lunar calendar, whose symbol is a fiery sword. It’s known as the most energetically powerful day (or night), and I felt that as I painted this stretch — particularly the tension in her hands.

The painting measures approximately 7x9 inches and is delicately float-mounted inside a Black Walnut gallery frame. The final dimensions are approximately 10x13 inches. This piece ships framed and ready to hang.
