14th Day
14th Day
This original gouache painting was made on an antique lithograph of the moon from The London Geographical Institute, 1925. The moon phase is on the 14th day of the lunar calendar, also known as the “ecclesiastical full moon.” Its symbol is the trumpet, and it’s widely regarded as the most powerful day of the month because it is the day to answer a calling. As I was planning this series, I kept saying that “I felt called,” and — without knowing its symbolism, this was the first piece I made.
The painting measures approximately 7x9 inches and is delicately float-mounted inside a black Walnut gallery frame. The final dimensions are approximately 10x12 inches. This piece ships framed and ready to hang.
