I painted a figure on "Development of a Naked Mollusc," a scientific lithograph from 1858, UK & France.

I fell in love with this dark and moody diagram — clusters of other-worldly cells in murky black waters. Molluscs are defined, in part, by their soft bodies, and I chose a figure model and a pose that mimicked this beautiful, natural shape.

This original painting — on a 166-year-old artifact — has been float-mounted on black linen, creating a hovering effect inside the gold-rimmed frame. The final dimensions are 12 x 15 inches. This piece arrives framed and ready to hang.
