I painted a grayscale gouache figure directly onto an antique star chart: the Eastern Map for August from Richard A. Proctor’s 1891 astronomy guide.

This work connects the human form to the vastness of the night sky. Set against an August star chart, the figure exists in a space of wonder and solitude, reflecting on our desire to locate ourselves within something larger. The piece is for anyone for whom August holds significance.
