I blushed when I found this antique postcard, sent in 1908. The two women, frolicking on the front, are so obviously “gal pals” — close, intimate girlfriends.

The message on the back of the postcard is well-worn, but this is what I can make out: “Hello, Lucy. How are you? Oh, how I would like to see you. Come over soon…”

Inspired, I painted two women in a quiet embrace and framed it in an antique gold frame with a handsome float mount.
