I’m so completely romanced by the story of Don Juan, “the greatest lover who ever lived.” It was a heart-racing moment when a copy of a French stage production, dating back to 1886, found its way to my studio.

On it, I painted a delicately robed woman. Through her sheer feminine draping — you can see the gorgeous detailing that tattoos the cover of this passionate story. (Admittedly, this painting makes me blush.)

At 136 years old, this book is extremely fragile (the pages flutter and flake like dried rose petals). I’ve preserved it in an antiqued silver frame that has a lot of warm luminosity. It ships ready to hang.
