I worked in colored pencil and gouache on an antique drawing book page from Cours de dessin by Charles Bargue and Jean-Léon Gérôme (c. 1900–1930).
This work engages directly with historical methods of instruction and study. By drawing and painting one of my recurring muses within the original practice blocks of the workbook, I place my own hand into the rhythm of academic training — responding to, rather than replicating, the language of classical draftsmanship. The original demonstration drawings remain visible, situating the figure within an inherited system of learning and revision.
