This is an original gouache painting of a nude on an antique lithograph of Sappho.

Sappho was a seventh-century-B.C. lyrical genius, who wrote about the beguiling graces of younger women. Hailing from the isle of Lesbos, she is still the subject of controversy today.

On this antique lithograph of the Greek poet, I painted who I imagined would be her muse. (More than 2,500 years later, she is mine.)
